AAC Code of Conduct

Airdrie Abilities is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants, including program facilitators/ coordinators, volunteers, caregivers, clients, community members, guests, and contracted workers. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all attendees to ensure a positive and supportive experience.

Everyone who participates at ACC must sing this forum in order to attend 

1. Respect and Inclusion

  • All individuals must be treated with dignity, kindness, and respect.
  • Discriminatory language, harassment, bullying, or any form of intimidation will not be tolerated.
  • Everyone has the right to participate in a welcoming and supportive environment, regardless of abilities, background, or identity.

2. Responsibilities of Caregivers

  • Caregivers are responsible for monitoring their clients and to ensure they adhere to this Code of Conduct.
  • Caregivers must provide appropriate support for their clients to foster positive engagement and participation.
  • If a client exhibits behavior that disrupts the program or affects others negatively, the caregiver must take prompt action to address the situation.

3. Respect for Program Facilitators/ Coordinator and Volunteers

  • All instructions and guidelines provided by the program facilitator/ coordinator and volunteers must be followed.
  • The program facilitator/ coordinator has the authority to address and manage situations as needed, ensuring fairness and respect for all.
  • Disruptive behavior that hinders the program or affects other participants will not be tolerated.

4. Safe and Appropriate Behavior

  • Attendees must respect personal space, property, and boundaries of others.
  • Any form of physical aggression, verbal abuse, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated, and the program facilitator/ coordinator will step in. 
  • All participants must maintain a cooperative and positive attitude to foster a safe and enjoyable environment.

5. Conflict Resolution

  • Personal grievances must not interfere with the program or influence interactions with others.
  • Attendees are encouraged to communicate concerns respectfully and seek resolution with the program facilitator/ coordinator and legal guardians/ trustees.  
  • The program facilitator/ coordinator will monitor interactions and may make decisions in the best interest of the group.

6. Compliance and Consequences

  • Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in warnings, removal from the program, or further action as deemed necessary.
  • The program facilitator/ coordinator has the final say in all matters concerning conduct and participation.
  • Any concerns regarding conduct should be brought to the attention of the program facilitator/ coordinator for review and resolution along with the legal guardians/ trustees.

By attending Airdrie Abilities, all parties (facilitator/ coordinator, caregivers, participants and legal guardians/ trustees) agree to uphold this Code of Conduct and contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and positive environment for everyone.
